Flashback

With just a simple conversation
My mind began racing.
In rolled the flashbacks,
As I started pacing,

To the first day I met you
When I couldn’t stand a word you said.
Could’ve sworn all you thought about was you
Because you had such a thick head.

A few weeks passed, and we started to talk.
We shared quite a few secrets.
That’s when I met the real you
So all my other thoughts, I let myself forget

Soon, I was looking forward to bus rides home
Just to hear what you had to say.
I laughed at your drawings, you laughed at me,
We messed with each other in every possible way.

Remember when you called me a junior?
Because apparently I’m much taller
Than a freshmen girl should be.
By the way, I found five dollars.

And, just a week or so ago,
You had the nerves to say you cared.
I didn’t know if I should believe you,
So all I did was blankly stare.

When you walked away from me,
I missed my one and only chance.
I knew I’d never see you again
But I just couldn’t say goodbye.
