I Am Revealed

Years passed flashing before my eyes.
Taking a look at all of the lies
that have pulled people closer
just to tear them apart.
Rain against the windshield is saying,
"Go on, go on."
My heart is racing in my throat,
choking me.
The truth bubbles forward past my lips,
and into her ears.
Bumps under the car seem like mountains.
Silence is louder than thunder.
My lungs are catching, making my chest burn.
I glance, and she is smiling.
She reaches across the car and squeezes my shoulder,
and oxygen enters my lungs.
