Screamed Up to God.

Delicate jewels of white, spilling down from the sky
Interweaving, in the dark lashes of your eyes
You laughed open-mouthed, and screamed up to god
You begged him to know what the hell was going on

You were vibrant, a color of flame among the snow
Melting the pearly flakes with your warm skin aglow
You kissed me breathless, then turned away and ran
Your endless love for me, made me into a man

I can’t tell you how many times, I wished that I could help
I can’t tell you how many nights; I absorbed tears into myself
You slowly began to weaken, and spent more time in bed
And it broke my heart completely when you had to shave your head

You tried to make it better, smiled through the pain
You told me you were fine, tried to keep me sane
At night, I laid in silence to the soundtrack of your breathing
When you passed that morning, it looked like you were sleeping

It rained the dark day that I put you in the ground
The thunder rolled relentless but I didn’t hear a sound
I laughed open-mouthed, and screamed up to god
Begged him to know what the hell was going on
