One Plus One

Why would you hide it away?
Why would you when nothing gold can stay?
Is it worth making the world of a person?
When it takes the good times and makes them worsen?
Why give it all and take none and receive none
Why tell others that all you think of is getting that gun
Is it love when you can’t help feeling for any another
When you call it a relationship that of a sister and a brother
Why separate the two when two become one
Why separate the two when it amounts to none

Ever heard of one plus one equals one
Or heard one heart plus one heart equals one love
Not two hearts or four hands and two people
But one heart plus one heart equals one heart
You’ve got two pairs of legs and four total eyes
But one loving game of footsies and one googly-eyed gaze
One love and one soul from one plus one
Love defies the course of nature itself
Not even the science of mathematics can hold it down

So tell me,
Why would you hide it away?
Why would you when nothing gold can stay?
Is it worth fading gold until its silver
When you can admire in silence at the gold within her
So in the end,
I want you to look at one plus one
When it was one in love what happens when love is done
Well, I guess that’s when one plus one equals none.

Big thanks to Robert Frost.
