Purple Stars and Little Boy Blue

Purple stars
And the smiling moon
Puss in Boots
And Little Boy Blue
Floating and flying
With you by my side
We go back to the place
At nine in the afternoon

Six feet under
In a place so high
I follow the rabbit
Down into wonderland
And swing across the rope
Into the Garden of Eden.
Just so I can stare
Face to face with the sky.

Smiling eyes
And joyous laughter
Your touch still lingers
On my body for miles
When we watched
The twinkling lights
And I could stay there
‘Till forever after.

Entangled bodies
In the dark of night
Giggles and smiles
Laughter that echoes
The winds tired eyes cry
For the lips that will never meet
For the arms to never wrap
Around you in the night.

Once the heart
Is lost to the ocean
Will it yet
Be retrieved?
To close my eyes
And fall
Never to be seen
Again.

The daze of sleep
Fades with the sun
Fantasy and tears
Dry with the day
I put up a false smile
For the world to see.
Because I had just realized
You will never be the one.
