Anatomy of a Politician

Start with the brain.
It is split into compartments
For what the public needs to hear
And for what he plans;
For what he says
And for what he really believes;
A dozen or so boxes in the skull
So he doesn't mix them up--
too often.

The facial structure is something else.
The eye sockets are not filled with eyes
But with balls of glass that
Cannot be read so easily.
And to appeal to both sides of the aisle,
Here's a unique adaptation:
He has two mouths, one for
each set of lies.

The chest cavity has a special structure, too.
Never mind the heart--
There is extra space behind the ribs
For powerhouse lungs that allow
Speeches that say nothing
to go on forever.

The hands are designed
With extra strength
To tighten the grip on power.
The feet are larger than yours or mine
To step on those without it.

And most important of all
Is, oddly enough, his backside--
A large extra hole for the
Hands of businesses and lobbyists
So they can dictate his
every move.
