Imaginary Love

Always looking for love, in a smile or a glance
Daydreaming away as if it were foreplay
Fleeting images of our would-be romance

A stroll for two on the parkway
Oblivious to the world around us
A perfect summer’s day.

Hit by the arrow of Eros
Next on our life’s queue
We’d get eloped in Vegas.

We say, “I do”
I’d start to plan our future,
We’d have some children, maybe two.

We would grow old together
We’d make marriage look easy
A bond that cannot be severed.

But alas, it’s just a fantasy
A made up dream about you and me.
