Love me like I love you

I love you like
the glorious swell of the ocean,
rushing forward,
sweet and strong,
oh so strong.

My love is all-encompassing,
a fire all-consuming,
bright and full of promise.

Why then am I
only greeted with
cautious caresses and worried glances,
half-hearted kisses and silence?

I’m bone-weary and
I ache.
Why can’t you love me like I love you?

God, I ache.
