The Babysitter

When my parents go out for a night on the town
When it is only me and you around
I feel so much safer

For years we’ve known each other
Loved by me, my dad, and my mother
You always make me happy

Every Friday, a quarter past three
My parents leave, and it’s just you and me

First we do science, ecosystems in biology
Then we do math, 7+16=23

Then after that, it’s usually four
I take a small break, then I do homework some more

She sits down and helps me, till we finish at five
I still don’t know how I make it out alive

Then you make dinner, macaroni and cheese
We eat outside with the birds and the bees

Then it is six, time to play with my toys
Balls and bats like all the other little boys

We play games like hide and seek and wrestle on top of each other
We act like dogs and run around pretending to bark
And when I say it hurts you always kiss me better
By then it is seven and it’s starting to get dark

You act like the tickle monster, and I run away
You catch me and tickle me, and I do the same

Then it’s time for a bath, and you help to wash me
You work real hard to make me shine and be clean like I want to be

Then it’s half to eight, and time to watch a movie
Time to see another adventure with Shaggy and Scooby

We get under the covers, to keep each other warm
You wrap you self around me, I know I’m safe from harm

Usually I fall asleep from all the fun we had
Then you tell me good night and that I made you glad

Next Friday will be the same, and the one after that
I am glad she loves me, and that I do love her back
