The Day the Rainbow Exploded

I was there when the rainbow exploded.
I saw the trees get covered in green.
And the sky was slapped with blue.
I watched my black and white world,
Turn into something brilliant.
I was splattered with a color bomb.
Turning my skin a creamy peach.
My hair was soaked in a gold color.
Some green squirted into my eyes.
And red washed softly onto my cheeks.

I was late to the rainbow exploding.
When I arrived, the animals changed.
I saw birds of many colors.
Blues, yellows, reds, and greens.
I saw the wild animals try to flee.
Some were left black and brown.
Then some leftover colors hit me.
My skin turned a dark mocha color.
My hair was hit by a light brown.
My eyes matched with darker brown
And the colors glowed with power.

I missed the rainbow exploding.
I saw my whole world differently.
There was color everywhere.
But none was on me.
I quickly ran forward.
My skin got a bit less pale.
My hair remained black.
A very light blue caught my eyes.
Though very little color, I was happy
