You Only Live Once

Underneath my party hat,
Beneath my boisterous little dance,
Behind the laugh, those glowing eyes
I'm throwing glass and pocket knives.
I'm saying that it's simple and easy
To ignore the hate and try to see
The good in people, to let it go
And save it for a day three days from now.

Three days from now I'll be pushing against
The white walls in my head, trying to jump the fence
Because life's too short to hold a grudge
But life's too long to keep bottling it up.
So I dance at the party and in about three days
I'll cut my nails to keep from scratching all the skin off my face.
