The Blood Rain

When blood shall rain down from the sky
the world shall be black from soot.
The birds will no longer sound alarm
The dogs vacant from their duties
And the cats unloyal as ever.

When blood shall rain down from the sky
humanity will be a pleasant pastime
The flowers rare and smiles even more.
We shall fight 'tooth and nail', gun and mortar
For salt, liquor, and shoes.

When blood pours from above
We will be nothing more than wolves in a pit
The evil relentless and the innocent armed
More than bones and skin shall be harmed
In that fallen day.

. . .

The rain is no more crystal
The rain is now blood.
We slip and fall in it as we run
only to find that shelter is gone.
The red is everywhere.

The blood falls from the sky
as my father dies
and my brother too.
I run as I cry, my sister in tow.
What would I give for the sky to be blue.

The skies still weep blood
blood of my brother, blood of my father.
Blood of my neighbor, blood of a stranger.
It falls upon me reminecent of deadened sacrifice.
There is now where to hide from the smell or sight.

. . .

The blood fell from the sky
and is now black with the soot
from used-to-be shelter.
We are now destitute,
thrust into poverty we thought we knew.

I'll never forget when the blood fell
When the bodies of our leaders toppled too
along with the strong.
Now the weak and broken remain
like our buildings.

From when the blood rained
My skin retains the scarlet stain,
My mind full of black, twisted shapes,
of falling bombs, of calliope screams,
of my father and brother dying. The marauders . . .

. . .

May this day forever be the day of the Blood Rain.
May we ever remember the courage, the struggle
of our parents in that torrent.
If it weren't for their diligence for life, for tradition,
in a barbaric time.

The Day of the Blood Rain?!
How can blood fall from the sky,
Old man?
You liar, you fake, you actor, you crone!
Who paid you, c'mon, 'fess up!

"Blood never rained from the sky and it cannot.
It is physically impossible for the blood cells to evaporate
and precipitate!"
"We simply cannot believe the word of the dying generation."
I survived the Blood Rain. I know it had happened and you cannot take that from me.
