Across the Sea

There once was land
A land, far across the sea
And there are two children
A man and his love, his Anna-Marie

These two, no more than friends
It was him and her, him and me
At the land by the sea
For more and less

Not but life did pass
In fleet months of three
They drifted apart
The man and his Anna-Marie

Fight in day and night
For months more
In that land by the sea
Until all she could was to flee

In an angry rapture
In a storm to upset that sea
The man, my love
He did but hurt his Anna-Marie

In tears and haste
Of taste as that sea
Did he hurt her
Precious Anna-Marie

In blood dried paste
She left, that Anna-Marie
Only to go back
To the land by the sea

Again and again
Across the sea
From you and me
She returned

Once upon a time
In a land across the sea
Lived a man and his wife
Precious Anna-Marie

He never changed
And neither did she
Leaving and returning
The foolish Anna-Marie

One day she may learn
In that land by the sea
The one across from you and me
That she might die

And when she does
The man, and his love
Down by that sea
Might heave a large sigh
For poor Anna-Marie
