Forgotten in the gold

The grass is long and thick
you hide in its golden ears
on your back you gaze at the sky
so clear so blue
like glass, the clouds like cotton
you reach out to touch the soft
a hand grabs yours
and pulls it back to him
warm strong hands wrap yours safe
a suppressed laugh
a hidden giggle
hearts racing in the gold.

The silence makes the buzzing loud
of bees
and the pounding of hearts
fills your ears
as his eyes stare into yours.
You see the world in them
green like pastures,
so cool and safe
a curious smile as his hands touch your face
your eyebrows furl
confused, what is this
this fear in your stomach
he smooths them out
your head touches his
a current flows
you smile
eyes and teeth aglow

pitter patter, steps in the earth

BOO!!!

a squeal of delight
lots of footsteps
your feet are under you, you rise and run
your hand combs the grass
the others ahead
the other one behind
feet pound from dirt to tarmac
busy roads and engines
the smell of diesel and curry
your eyes widen at the sight of home
and you step inside
and close the door
forgetting the cool, safe green in the gold.
