The Dance of You and Me
I had a dream about you and me.
We were trying to find a place to meet.
But I lost you and you lost me,
Amongst the people and the scenes.
I reached for you,
You grabbed for me.
You can’t imagine my inner screams.
Maybe it just wasn’t meant to be.
But I wasn’t ready to give up yet.
I searched the room to find you.
Somewhere we met.
There were too many rules.
I thought I would lose.
I was so afraid I couldn’t have you.
I wished I was Cinderella,
That I’d lost a shoe.
You’d fit it to my foot and I would swoon.
You stilled my soul.
I helped you cope.
But I woke up,
And faced the absence of hope.
