The Light That Never Fades

The beast of loss, he comes to claim another
My strength waning, yet still striving to discover
Why a soul must suffer
By the darkest storm or deepest fissure
Our faces brooding, but hope we deliver
Across the widest of rivers

But a light shines brightest in the dusk
We stay glowing, come rain or rust
So take your earth, your land and sea
Take it all away from me
Truly then will she find peace
Through the most surreal of dreams

Another prayer needed, another adage heeded
For her, for her precious life I pleaded
Blades of grass hath graced the earth below
Yet again was I reminded of her infectious glow
Forgetting the ties, and the wounds we'll sew
Caught deep below in the undertow

I have fought against monumental tides
Walked with mountains, over clouds they preside
Even further still among blistering heights
But it was worth it, all to see your light
Glow one last time...
