Burn
The noon sun shines bright
Too bright for these eyes
Too harsh for this skin
Too unyieldingly dry
It burns through the air
Almost melting the black tar
Seeking out every imperfection
Illuminating every scar
I yearn for the safety of the dark
The cool comfort of the night
Where morals take a back seat
And what’s wrong, feels so right
To the point where I forget
The sun will always return
Revealing my sins in the light
Leaving my soul to burn
Too bright for these eyes
Too harsh for this skin
Too unyieldingly dry
It burns through the air
Almost melting the black tar
Seeking out every imperfection
Illuminating every scar
I yearn for the safety of the dark
The cool comfort of the night
Where morals take a back seat
And what’s wrong, feels so right
To the point where I forget
The sun will always return
Revealing my sins in the light
Leaving my soul to burn
