Streetlight Pioneers

Streetlights attack the night
fighting for their right
to space, more room to grow
Their own Manifest Destiny
and farther west they go
up and out in mystery
a sweet epiphany

But just imagine
their cosmic wagons
an exodus, electric pioneers
set free in an infinate sky
Never told us, they'd be gone for years
no letter, no sad goodbye
carefully contrived

But just picture this
at a place of interest
to settle down, a celestial town
their light saturates the atmosphere
blanketing all it surrounds
white washed skies form the frontier
in darkness we die here
