Aimée Perdu

From the smoke, she walked alone
through red eyes and yellow stones,
through green minds and scarlet bones.
She was lost, yet she didn't know.
Like a diamond in a goldmine
amidst miners colourblind,
she was snobbed and thrown aside
and so she stayed behind.

A dying star, shining shadow
shone only to see her eyes.
How unfortunate she didn't know
nor could she see through his disguise.

Through the years, the star died
only to return to her once more,
shining brighter each time,
always brighter than before.

The longer wait, the sweeter taste
and it seemed to prove true.
They loved and lived life in haste.
Nothing they couldn't do.
In the form of ink and kisses,
in the form of words and colours,
in the form of love and misses
the universe was all hers.

But when the sands ran out
and father's time was gone,
mother took her away
to the land the star couldn't shine on,
but they never let go
for all they would miss
would never live up
to the universe he promised.

In the world of the golden blue
who knows if she had stayed true?
For she threw away all that was benign
and committed such heinous crimes,
but they never cut their ties
as she hid behind her lies.
The star then began to die,
losing the will to survive.

Empty, she began to feel
when what purity more could she steal?
What was left of her perfect beauty
when she was painted and dirty?
And he, such a stupid star!
He forgave this weeping stranger
though she had gone too far
he never ceased to love her.

She wants him to love no other.
She wants him to love her.
She wants him to wait
and not to make her mistake.
She's full of regret
and she only wants to forget.
She chants her curse
for she had had the universe.
She's a stranger
yet the child from long ago.
Whenever you would ask her,
she simply says, "I don't know."
