When A Star Dies...

I can’t, she whispers into the night
Lying limply in red blood, forget the fight
Not even the sun can coax her back into the light
Her lips are sewn shut, doesn’t want to say, it’s alright

The moon blurs into another falling star
Dripping from her cheek like blood from a scar
At the edge of a highway, just waiting for a car
It’s one step to safety but that’s much too far

From somewhere she hears terrified screams
Much worse than the ones in her dreams
Every clean patch of skin, they see, beautifully gleams
But the look as she closes her eyes, they don’t know what it means

And she wakes with needles in her arms and stitches
Beeping noises surround her in different pitches
The white burns her new born eyes and she flinches
I don’t want to be here, her lips sore, her breath hitches

They worry and try to hug and soothe the child
Cooing softly to a limp body that used to be wild
Since then every of her moves has been filed
But then again, since then she has never smiled.
