In My Memory You Smile

I'm walking on a beach in my memory,
There are some clouds in the sky,
The waves are crashing quietly,
Time just drifts by.

You're there,
You're with me too,
You look down at me,
And I look up at you.

I see your smile,
And your sea blue eyes,
Your personality is so young,
And so it lies.

You seem happy,
And that rubs off on me,
You're here,
And you're free.

You take my hand,
And tell me to hold it out,
You say it's something special,
And I have no doubt.

You reach for your pocket,
I see something sparkle and shine,
It's your butterfly necklace,
Which you say is now mine.

You looked so pretty with it,
I wanted to be pretty too,
You tied it around my neck for me,
And then I smiled at you.

12 years later,
I don't like the beach I'm on,
It's not a happy place anymore,
Now that you're gone.

Nobody will smile,
I feel so alone,
I don't like this feeling,
I don't like being on my own.

I look at the purple butterfly you gave me,
It took its sparkles from your eye,
I wish I spent more time with you,
I wish I got to say goodbye.
