Through a Child's Eyes

The world through a child’s eyes is an innocent thing,
Buttercups and roses and birds that always sing.
But their view on the world is soon torn apart
As sadness and despair tamper with their heart.
Each note from that bird’s beak takes on a new definition;
Innocence gone from their heart’s inhibition.
Thrown out on the streets for new children to find
Just to end up the same with their hopes left behind.
So to each little heart that sings of great joy
Love while it lasts, for it will soon be destroyed.
