Breaking It Down.

Hands tremble,
Eyes dart from side to side.
Lips quiver,
Ears ring into the silence.

The tears threaten,
But the eyes turn them down.
Hands pull against the head of hair,
Legs pulled close to the chest,
The chest that gasps for air.

The screams of distress build,
The anger and sadness swell.
The mind swarms for release,
The mind shuts down.

The normally comforting bedroom,
Acts like solitary confinement.
Head tosses back,
Hitting the wall that encloses.

Eyes burn as the tears continue to come,
But they continue to deny them.
The subconscious scratching begins,
The face contorts in a frightening way.
Eyes begin to twitch,
Insanity filling the eyes and the mind.

The barrier is broken and tears fall,
Hands searching for something,
That something within reach.
Twirling the object within the fingers,
Before doing the stupidest thing they can.

A shaken, relieved breath,
With a grin of mania,
A single laugh of sweet release.
The metallic maroon liquid glides,
Another shaken breath.
The consequences are far from the mind.

Then reality strikes,
The promise has been broken,
The release short-lived.
Insanity fills the mind once again,
And the head leans back against the wall.
The tears flow without restraints,
But the eyes close tightly.
A whisper fills the silent air,
"I'm sorry."
