Breathe

Once upon woodland hike,
I stopped to catch my breath.
And as I paused there, rapidly panting,
I paid heed unto my immediate surroundings.
I breathed in and out, in and out,
And the world around me followed.

Now the world breathes not with lungs of flesh,
Nor with some form of underwater gill.
I don’t imply the act of breathing that man is accustomed to;
The simple reaction of gaseous chemicals,
Resulting in energy and carbon monoxide.
As a whole, Mother Nature breathes majestically.
With each breath she inhales negativity,
And exudes only the purest essence of ethereal life-force,
Aspiring with unlimited tenacity,
To remove all impurity from this planet.

So next time you venture out into the world,
Remember that you’re not alone.
Mother Nature is always by your side,
A lifelong companion,
Breathing harmoniously with you,
Comforting you with every breath.
