Midnight Drawl

Another midnight drawl I’m forced
To write down in verse
Full of swears, head pressures
And nostalgia.
An imagination on an express,
A train that has yet to stop,
Its chugs and choos cause chaotic unsettlement
In my mind.

I’m forced to think of my heartbreak to come,
A rattle in my leaning confidence
My head aches of a story to be written
Its meaning that has to be known
For the sake of my sanity.

My stomach aches from too much food
While my impaired vision causes my eyes
To burn,
My headache to beat.
The dream of my heart beats deep and mellow
I want this midnight drawl to become a dream.
