Scarlet

red drumbeats leaked through flaxen hands
gray weary traveler worn by black sores
his stomach threw itself into his chest
a scarlet stamp marking his past on his face

green flute song littered the pearl orbs
gold and silver sighs, turquoise sighs
another breath and another life pass'd
but all is gone; gone

crimson fury and orange pairs of eyes
they watch for me and mingle halfway through
he'd ridden the white stallion long and hard
to long without a rest

cream-stained lilacs distort his view
sightless seers discoloured with age
the years wearing thin on the fabric
and waste away what most thought was lost
