She Wonders

It makes her wonder
If the time has come to let go.
The problems they had were pulling her under
To let go would be a task filled of woe.

She loved him.
Her heart beat for him and no other
But their future together looked grim,
She wondering if they should stop seeing one another.

She felt him pulling away.
She felt him closing himself to her
She felt his affections beginning to stray
Her opinions were starting to blur.

Most nights she'd lay awake,
Most nights he'd say he had to go.
Was relying on him a big mistake?
But when he was there she'd find herself aglow.

He helped her to live,
He helped her to die,
They had no more to give,
She had no more tears to cry.

He'd get mad for her feeling these things,
But she can't help but wonder.
When his every absence stings,
Would she soon fall under?

Could it be too late?
Could it be too soon?
Did love have an expiration date?
These thoughts haunted her from noon to the moon.

She'll stare at her reflection,
She just can't see,
Why his affection
On a girl like she.

She kissed his cheek
And pulled away.
She began to speak,
This is what she had to say.

"I love you,
My dear,
I hope you know that's true,
But I'm beginning to fear,

What is left for us,
May not be worth trying for,
Please let us not make a fuss,
But I'm being swept offshore.

If you wish to disagree,
You'll have to say,
You'll have to tell me,
Pull me back your way.

I want it to work,
I don't want to fall apart,
But we're going berserk,
Do I still have your heart?"
