Drifting

They say it's hard to miss something that one did never have,
But I cannot ignore this yearning for the one thing that would make me glad.
I've pondered for many hours,
Reconstructed the broken glass,
I've searched for all of eternity,
So many hours have come to pass.

My heart aches at the thought of you,
I can feel it skip a beat.
The memories of what once was
Are tearing at me, piece by piece.

Shaking hands and teary eyes are what you've reduced me to,
By leaving without a second thought,
I can no longer feel close to you.
