Chance on the Dance Floor

The shining sky was black and gold with stars as big as diamond rings
And the melody was light and brisk and carried in the strings

Sitting at a table of glass, that glistened like crystalline water, and as cool as ice.
The room was dark, warm and smelled like expensive spice.

Waiting by the door, for the one to arrive and dance
I saw her sitting at the table, and knew it was a chance

I looked up from my place at the table of the past.
To see a handsome guy arriving to me at last.

Extending an arm, extending my hand
“It’s not fun sitting, in fact, kind of bland”

I smile up at the handsome guy, and take his hand.
“Then you fine sir, need to help me stand.”

I lift her to her feet, but only a moment
As the beat of the music sweeps us into the torrent

I take a step closer to him as the music starts to spin.
Then I put my hand on his shoulder on some sort of whim.

Faster I take, faster, I make her, faster do I wish to go
And as the things blurred I did mistake her for one that I had always known

We dance around the room, until it fades to a haze.
Then I notice my dance partner's gaze.

Her eyes were like the stars but ever more bright
They lit up my soul and made day from the night

I smiled and blushed, embarrassed by his eyes.
But then I noticed that I was flying in the skies.

I took away, from the floor to the sky
I took away with love, one can’t deny

A strong feeling filled my chest, full of butterflies fluttering.
As we passed the doors, I started stuttering.

“kiss me” I said, I knew she was listening
As she looked at the on the water frame glistening

As soon as the words left his lips, I wanted to kiss him.
But I was scared and bit my lip and leaned into him on a whim.

What sin did delight me as much as this
The love, the feeling, the joy from this kiss

Our lips met and sparks started to fly.
When we pulled away people just danced on by.

But now, as I looked from her eyes to the ground
People were looking from near and all around

To us, the couple who’s never been seen before.
The two who had their first kiss on the dance floor.

And as we twirled triumphant in the sky
We knew our love would never die
