Truth About Life

Someone,
Arm wrestling with
Disease, death, and natural disaster,
Physical suffering,
Facing terrible things,
Facing death.
Troubles will endure,
Unusual,
Unstoppable-
Forcing, pushing, resisting.
Fears of the unknown
Destroy the faith you
Have in someone or something.
We are not living.
We are lost in our heads.
Feelings of anxiousness,
Disbelief and denial.
They are
A piece of you.
Ridiculous,
Irrational beliefs,
Gone.
Unsettling
Nothingness.
Struggling,
Severe Pain.
Not trusting.
You are guarding yourself.
It can be very difficult,
Shivering in the pointless void.
You are doomed to some form of hell.

Okay, so, you may be wondering why this poem is so disjointed. Well I can tell you! It was a project for my English class my senior year of high school. We were given a bunch of articles about life and death and stuff like that, and we had to cut out any words or phrases that jumped out at us. We then had to develop a poem that made sense from the cut up words about life. The result? A very disjointed poem, that my teacher fell in love with because all of my peers went the happy go lucky way, and I instead chose to show the darker side of life.
