With Stars in Our Eyes

With stars that hide inside our eyes,
that Wish that they could roam,
to take their place inside the skies,
They yearn to go back home.
Their tears sing out a melody,
That dances as I fly,
I cannot feel their icy touch,
That grips me as I glide.
They say I’m not a child now,
And ask to gain repose,
I wish them well and send them off,
Watching as they go.
Now I look towards their light,
A symbol of my past,
I think of how I’ve gotten here,
And feel peaceful at last.
But then I wake inside my bed,
A new day it would seem,
And I doubt the stars existed then,
As if they were a dream.
