Whiskey Memories

A cool burn runs down His throat
As he reads the letter he never wrote
His vision blurs as he fights the tears
That came from a loss of a thousand years

One last swig, the bottle's dry
The more he thinks, the more he dies
He knows the damage that it's doneĀ
But still he has another one

Broken glass, broken heartsĀ
Looks inside, sees the scars
Half the bottle's gone by now
A Headache never seemed so loud

His eyes are red, his hands quiver
One more sip taken with a shiver
Drowns in the pain, he goes insane
He wobbles out into the rain

The man sits down with his drink
Memories tattooed with permanent
ink
Downs the bottle, confesses his sins
Falls down knowing he'll never win
Takes one last breath & closes his eyes
This would be his last goodbye.
