Resonance

The girl tossed and turned,
Her dreams tainted by black shadows
And monsters which came alive
In the night.

Trapped in a clearing,
She was lost in folds of silence
With grotesque forms
Which told of pains and sufferings past.

There loomed the omnipotent, omniscient authority
From which she could not escape.
It stared at her
With cold, unfeeling eyes.

Like a puppeteer it gathered all her foes,
Ensnaring her, tormenting her
It struck her down tied her down
Filling her mind and body
With coagulant filth.

She struggled relentlessly,
Like a lion's captured prey.
The iron hands reached around her
To silence her without a sound,
When suddenly, they disappeared.

They broke down and melted away
As a bright light shone in the distance,
Dazzling her with its beauty.
She recognised the little glimmer of hope
That had never failed her.

So she ran.
She ran and ran,
As fast as her legs could carry her.
She needed to find her sanctuary
The only place where she could be herself,
The only place where she was human
The only place where she was safe,
From the beast who pursued her.

She kept on running,
Throwing herself forward
Towards the dazzling light.
With a final scream of desperation
She had won.
She was at home;
Safe again with her protector.

Hello ^^ I don't really know how to classify this poem, or whether it actually is a poem :S All I know is I felt the sudden urge to write something as I do a lot of the time, and this was the product. As I mentioned before, it's a pretty personal poem for me as it contains my own feelings. You can interpret it as you like. I hope you enjoy it ^^ Thank you for reading :)
