Insidious Knowledge

Knowledge, life’s most insidious killer,
Infiltrates the cerebral temple unendingly,
Relentlessly dissolving optimism and merriment,
Corroding illusions, justifying fears.
With greater ignorance, comes innocent peace.
With greater knowledge, comes crippling depression.
To the naïve soul, life’s a miraculous blessing.
To the educated soul, life’s but a hiccup of probability.

Though the quest for knowledge is esteemed and noble,
I bid thee be wary; facts are seldom unlearned.
The truth is often excruciatingly destructive.
The monster, once stirred, will never be calmed.
