A Farewell Salute

Life hands many friends,
In the end they always slip through,
And there’s nothing I could do.
A handful of years seem to escape,
Right through my fingers,
Poof, gone, like magic.
And life begins to take shape.
It’s nothing too tragic,
Just a go with the wind.
Now at the finish line,
Starting a new race,
I finally take a breather,
And look to find you,
Neither here or there,
Nowhere to be seen,
You’re lost somewhere in between,
But I can’t stop,
So this is a farewell,
So I can start fresh.
I give you a farewell salute,
And turn my life off mute.
