Avian Longings

I wish I had wings
to lift me into the sky.
Were blue bird sings,
That's where I'd fly.

Upward I would soar
Across the widest seas.
My worries are no more.
My mind at ease.

With graceful thrusts I'd spin.
Slicing through a sheet of blue.
I'd worry no more of the trials of men.
I would be free and new.

Forever I would want to be in the air.
Glide with an eagle,
Wind whipping through my hair.
In my mind I’d be regal.

I wish I had wings to lift me into the sky.
Up there I would never die.
