Broken Innocence

"She's immature."
"She's stupid."
"She's too loud and hyper."
"She's mentally-insane."
"She tries to be too nice to everyone."

Every wondered why?

Was it maybe because her parents were divorced,
And she was torn between the two constantly fighting?

Because she grew up in an unsafe neighborhood where crimes occurred often,
And many other kids forced her into doing reckless, dangerous things?

Because she suffered many stress issues at a young age,
And every little thing tore her apart to shreds?

Because she was constantly bullied throughout elementary,
And had to live with the fact her life was so rough?

Because she never had a real childhood,
And made up for it now?

Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't.

Maybe she just tried to please everyone,
Only to end up in utter failure.

Maybe her crooked smile lasted so long,
Only to let the tears spill through.

And just like that, her innocence was ripped away-
From every curse word she memorized,
To every window she broke.
From every threat she was threatened,
To every cigarette she smoked,
Her life was full of trouble that she could run from, but couldn't hide.

Once she found the courage to give into herself,
she showed the world who she really was,
Not caring at any manner what people thought of her.
Because she wouldn't change for anybody,
Much less look on her past.

Next time you see that "annoying chick",
don't remind yourself why you don't like her.
Think.
Think about why she could be so "annoying",
Why you even care.

If you don't know them well enough, don't judge them by their past.
You know they're name, not they're story.
You've heard what they've done, not what they've been through.
