Oh to Dream!

Tonight I fall asleep within an empty bed of flowers,
I yearn to have some dream tonight, not wile away the hours.
Dreams rarely grace my mind, you see, a most unpleasant blight,
What plagues me all throughout the day, attacks me all the night.
If only I could dream this eve, I’d swiftly leave it all.
I’d leave for lands of purple clouds, and monsters big and tall.
My pains and fears would all abate, and never taint my mind,
Away I’d run with bands of elves, escaping all mankind!
The endless possibilities, they tie my head in knots!
Alas in bed I still remain, my dreams mere lofty thoughts.
