What "Truth" Said

You look up at that snarling monster
Not understanding what the people said
The monster stares down at you
Eyes digging deep into your
Soul
It smiles a terrible smile
Flashing its razor sharp teeth
You stare in horror as it sinks in
This is what you have been running from
This creature
This monster
This thing
It almost comes as a shock to you
Almost
The monster stares deep into your eyes
“I know why you have come” it says
But it doesn’t say anything at all
It is inside your head
“You could feel the lies” it says again
“You know that things aren’t always as they seem”
“Neither am I.”
“I’m not what I seem”
You stare in awe
This thing that you first saw as a monster
Was changing
Before your eyes
“All those around you are not who you think”
You nod slowly understanding
“The truth is hidden from view? Hard to find?” You ask
The monster that no longer seems a monster smiles
It slowly changes shape
Becomes something different
Something you can tolerate
Something that can help you grow
“You know I am not the monster” It says to you
“I am not the one you fear”
It was right
You look around you and see
That the people surrounding you
Are the true monsters
Truth looks at you
Its face becoming something you know
“I can help you understand”
“You need me to become who you are” it says
You nod as you realize
The people are the ones who hide the truth
The people are the ones you should be afraid of
