The Beach
The breeze is blowing,
Sand spraying across my face.
The water hisses at me as it washes ashore,
and a boat in the distance lets out steam.
A cold, bitter wind blows, bringing chills onto my bare arms,
the smell of salt burning into my nostrils.
Lying, watching, dreaming, and waiting,
the sun sets ablaze my skin.
