You see my smile,
Hear my laugh like it is effortless,
All the while,
Voices scream to me,
"Release your facade!"
They cry,
Over and over,

My head pounds,
Lips tremble with uncertainty,
And all the while,
Her silver smile draws me in,
With eyes like rubies,
Promising my skin will smile too,

"Let me take it away"
She purrs,
So seductive,
As if i could ever give her up,
And her fingers graze the skin of my wrist,
Bringing the gold to the surface,

She takes it from me,
With her tongue,
Soothing the painful words,
The restless thoughts,
My tired mind,

She consoles me in ways others cannot,
Promising the pain away,
And others try to take her,

NO,

She is the remainder of my sanity,
My enemy,
My lover,
And she takes care of me,

And I shall not give her up
