Demise

Busted by the sun
The streetlights lie
And blindly they comply
So quickly they deny

With lightning quick speed they comply
Like dogs jumping to their masters' cry
They never pause, never stop to wonder why
Why they should so rapidly reply

They asked me for a dream
Amid the nightmarish gleam
They suppressed my horrified screams
My tears hurriedly join the stream
And so I tell them:

Feel the rain wash over me
Feel the rage dig so deep down
Watch in wonder as
I delve straight through and
Wonder why I chose you

They reel back in shocked surprise
And in their eyes is held despise
And suddenly I feel unwise
For I see in them my demise
