My Hickory Tree

He was a solid man
Taller than 6 foot 3
And when he could've been J. Wayne
He was a Hickory Tree

He was a farming man
Stayed there 60 years
When she found his shade
He would grin ear to ear

So when the little girl looked up
He moved so the sun was out of her eyes
And when the little boy was sad
He moved all the thunder storms away

But when lightning strikes too often
It will always hit the tallest tree
What happens when it rains too much
No one wants to see a hollowed Hickory
