Piano Notes and the Depth of the Sea

White keys won’t you play me a melody,
Like Ocean that pulls far and waves that twirl.
You use these sharps as simple weaponry,
Like a hasty shell hiding away pearl.
All the notes that fall like rain turn minor
But when light held black be cast to shade’s sin
you start to make perfection look finer.
Hope I have yet to live under your skin
but each day’s tide sails us further apart
Words do work, musically we go and hang
Smart bright pallid lies that glow in the dark.
But to our requiem, a duet, I sang
a song that speaks and speaks and speaks – for an
Awful Muscle that beats and beats and beats
