There's something you should know...

There’s something I should tell you…

There's something I should tell you,
I ought to have told you before,
Yet would it truly have prevented, my undisclosed wars.
I do not know whether I can bear the pain, my confession most certainly would cause…

My wars are within, the thoughts in my head
I “seem so withdrawn, from everything” you said,

The truth is inside, but cannot come out,
Its safe contained, in the walls of my heart,
But my past life, my memories can now depart…

A confession such as this, is not straightforward to tell,
My mind often recollects, this personal hell,

To share this with you, is a huge relief, a burden lifted
From within my closed heart.
You, are special, the first person who loved
Me for myself,
So now, in return, I confess to you,
The pieces of my life, an awful truth.

Now you are present, waiting to be told.
Tense, expectant, with widening eyes,
The tears in my eyes, stopped by the thought,
Of liberation soon to come.

My heart beats faster,
It is now time,
To convey, to transfer, my battle to you,
My personal hell, is now all too true,
And will be soon,
Visible in your eyes…

Your manner, your posture, is easy to read,
But now I pass onto you, this rooted weed,
That was planted into my memories…

I open my mouth, and start my story,
As the chapter begins, the pages turn, slow at first,
Your now sat down, head in hands, as you hear the worst.
Of my childhood, my innocence destroyed,
You sob in my lap, you can see it now
The reason why, the reason how,
Such events occurred, that were burnt so vividly,
Into my mind and heart.

Life is not easy, and reminiscences are hard
But it is finally liberating, to let down my guard,
My tale must hurt, as you break down and cry,
I am smiling, because I no longer have to lie,

The hard part is done, I’ve told the truth,

Now life is waiting, and the rest of my book, will soon be shown,
A different genre of story, waiting to be told…
Unmarred by this dreadful lie.

My first ever poem, so please be kind :D The structure of the poem is not rigid. I wanted to display the emotions and how ones head would be all over the place, through the structure of the poem.
