The Girl Who Took Her Own Life

There was once a girl named Brooke,
Who with every chance she took,
dreamed of a life she could never have.
Her daddy was gay,
and her papa would always say...
“I’ll love you until the day I die”
And she was never told to go hold her breath.

But that was all a lie,
and she was screaming inside...
for somebody to notice her...
And the only time she felt at home,
was when she was listening to her music alone.
And the only time she felt divine...
Was when she would cut herself from time to time.

She faked that smile you always see,
until one day...
there was nothing left of her-
except a note...
now no one could ignore her-
She was gone-
now everybody would forget about her.

“Don’t feel sorry for me- she wrote,
don’t pretend to cry over me,
don’t say you’re sorry for ignoring me.
I’m gone,
there is nothing you can do about that.
I’m gone,
And this time for good.”

And daddy finally cried,
while her mother almost died.
Her nana let out a sob,
her sister lost her job,
her school fell silent,
her brother become violent.

The boy she liked turned around,
the bullies who tormented her let out a frown
the principle told the school,
and everyone knew she was a fool.
And everyone remembered,
until one day they forgot about her.

And her tombstone laid untouched for many years,
until one day one of her peers...
came down with a flower,
and with all the power...
she could muster not to cry...
she turned around and said goodbye.
She told Brooke, she’ll never forget the girl who took her own life.
