The Ballad of Danny-Boy

Now gather round and I'll tell you a tell
That's old as old can be,
About our dear old Danny-boy
Who ran away to sea.

Now Danny-boy was young and pure,
But full of pride and mirth,
And so he set a sail to shore
To start his pirate birth.

But Danny was not made to sail;
His legs began to shake.
As lightning flashed across the sky
His soul began to quake.

The boat did pitch across the waves,
And Danny hid in his bed
To pray to God that he might find
A port to rest his head.

These days we see not much of Dan;
He died upon that boat.
His ghost now wanders round the dock
To warn us and to float.
