Beautiful Remains

Once upon a time,
There was a girl.
She appeared happy.
Always smiling,
Wearing bright colors,
Cared about her makeup,
And her hair.
She was social,
And had many friends.
So nobody assumed she was miserable.
But that she was.
She was putting up a front,
So no one would suspect she hated her life.
So no one knew,
How she cried herself to sleep every night.
And she did a good job of hiding it.
Her pain.
She was in the process of discovering herself.
She still is.
Someone she idolized wrote an apology poem.
And since she wanted to be like them,
She did too.
Except it wasn't an apology poem.
It was a love poem.
About the guy she loved,
Even if he didn't love her.
She wasted an entire year on this guy.
It started with a seating arrangement.
He's smile at her,
Joke with her,
Laugh with her.
Naturally, she fell...
Head first...
Into hell.
It became a vicious cycle.
He'd smile,
And her heart would flutter in circles...
It'd beat harder than Chris Brown on Rihanna.
Then he'd say something,
Or do something,
That would hurt her heart.
And she'd turn on him.
She became a total bitch.
With a cold,
Evil,
Heart.
She never knew how completely,
Totally,
Inevitably,
Dark she could get.
Especially towards him.
Until he came along.
Everyone saw it,
The dark side of this untamed soul.
But mysteriously,
He'd get hurt...
Like he had no clue he was the reason...
Why she was acting this way.
The faint glimmer in his eyes turned her,
Inside,
Out.
And she immediately became,
The shy,
Lovely soul,
That she was before he came into her life.
And that's how it worked.
Love.
Hate.
Love.
It hurt her worse than anything else,
Ever.
And she went back to crying herself to sleep...
Every.
Single.
Night.
Of her...
Miserable,
Life.
A part of her soul died that year.
And now all that's left of this pathetic,
Lovestruck teenager...
Is her beautiful remains.
