I Am From

I am from the beating Sun,
and amber waves of Ohio.
I am from a broken house,
and fights between parents.
I am from being strong in the day,
and crying to sleep at night.
I am from terrible actions,
and mountains of regrets.
I am from seeing my mother graduate collage,
and my father’s Navy stories.
I am from a woman, who, despite her past,
has risen from the ashes.
I am from a man, who tells his stories,
with great pride in his voice.
I am from the brink of suicide,
to cheering and yelling at Pride.
I am from being called a useless faggot,
to being called a great friend.
I am from burning the pancakes,
to…wait, I still burn the damn pancakes!
I am from hiding my feelings,
to speaking from the Heart.
I am from being sad and lonely,
to being the happiest I’ve been in years.
I am from I tried, old Grandma,
who stared at Death and said, “Bitch, please!”
I am from a hard-working Grandpa,
who never forgets to say, “I love you, Robbie.”
I am from a big brother,
who not just beat the odds, he kicked their ass!
I am from a big sister,
who is still a child at heart.
I am from another big sister,
who is as sweet as they come.
I am from being scared to leave home,
to knowing I will always have my friends.
I am from playing with fire,
to playing Minecraft.
I am from the Sun drenched fields of home,
to the lovely and windy mountains of my new home.
I am from concerning myself with what people thought,
to not giving two flying-fucks!
