Awake Me When We're All Kids

Men should stay kids
So they can’t learn to break your heart
And be everlastingly brave and kind

Women should stay girls
So they could be forever innocent
And care for the weak and lost

I’ve heard them all say
“I’m a kid at heart”
But do they really understand what they say?
They’re no kids
They all forgot how to play with no games
How to dance with no beat
How to sing a wordless song

There’s not such thing as a ‘kid at heart’
You either are a kid
Or you’re not

Wake me up when all of us are kids, okay?
I think its past my bedtime now
Just let me know when they forgot how to forget
And when they understood what understanding is

Just then will I come from my bed
And talk to them
Not before
I want to be a kid forever
I won’t let them turn me into men and women
I don’t want them to ruin me as well
